Contouring tips for beginners

Contouring has long since ceased to be a trend, but rather an established technique that is no longer to be imagined without in order to emphasise popular facial features or to make small blemishes disappear. Contouring can be used to completely change the shape of the face. With our contouring guide for beginners, we show you what to look out for and which products are suitable.

Different face shapes - different techniques

Not everyone has the same face shape. The different face shapes are the reason why there can be no uniform guide for perfect contouring. Therefore, it is important - first of all - to know your own face shape:

  • Oval face shape: it looks particularly balanced
  • Square face shape: We speak of a square face shape when the lengths and widths of the face are approximately the same
  • Triangular face shape: also called the heart shape, it is wider towards the forehead and narrower towards the chin
  • Rectangular face shape: this is when the lengths are a little longer than the widths (cheekbones).
  • Round face shape: equal lengths and widths "connected" by flowing curves.

Must-haves for successful contouring

To make sure that contouring is a success despite the first beginnings, you should make sure to use high-quality products. That's why we show you our absolute favourites in the categories highlighter, blush and bronzer.

Of course, the right contouring brush for the respective category is also a must. Before you start contouring, you can apply your foundation as usual.

Contouring stick and palettes

The first step is to use a stick or palette to highlight your facial features such as cheekbones. The upper eye area and the shape of the face can also be highlighted or changed thanks to just a few brush strokes.

Blush

For an additional fresh, awakened complexion, the blush provides. In summer as well as in winter, the blush leaves a fresh kick on the cheeks - so you not only look awake but also fresh!

Highlighter

Highlighters come in a wide variety of shades, liquid or powder - so the choice is endless. By applying the highlighter, you can accentuate additional areas of the face. Especially the nose, the upper cheek area and the eye area, as well as the chin and the heart of the lips are popular features on the face that can be highlighted.

Fixing Spray

It's all about fixing: To ensure that the beautiful make-up then lasts all day, we recommend using a fixing spray after applying the make-up.
